FAQ

What should I wear?

Anything goes. Rock your favourite jeans & t-shirt or wear a full costume. You can wear whatever you want - these photos are for you to be proud of. Just note, there will be other people in the studio waiting area so keep it PG, eh!? Have a look at some of the example images above to see how the light hits various fabrics and colours. If you want to embrace the whole black on black look, wear all black with soft fabrics. A black leather jacket will add a nice shine by reflecting the light, where a black wool sweater will absorb the light. Lighter colours will pop more, where darker colours will blend in - totally up to you.

Can I change my outfit during my session?

Yes and no. Taking off layers like a hat, blazer or glasses is a definite yes and doable, but we won’t have enough time for full head to toe outfit changes. The best way to prepare if you’d like some variety is to layer up a bit and shed the layers as we shoot.

Can I bring props?

Yea sure! You’re welcome to try anything as long as it fits within our 15 minute session and as long as it can easily fit through a normal door. Keep in mind we’re shooting from the knees up.

Can you photograph a group?

The portrait setup works best with individuals but we can absolutely fit 2 people as a small group. It’s a small setup and once we get to 3 or more people, the light doesn’t hit right. I do recommend booking an individual session for each person if you’re looking for proper individual portraits.

Can you photograph kids?

Heck yeah! Bring the kiddos. I do recommend booking an individual session for each person if you’re looking for individual portraits of multiple family members.

I'm nervous. I've never had my photo taken.

I feel you. I’ve been there too and the first few times I was in front of the camera I also felt pretty nervous and awkward. Don’t worry, I’ll help you feel comfortable and guide you through it. Pro tip: just look into the lens and own it. You’re a rockstar.

How can I use my images?

Your portraits are yours to use forever and you can use them however you’d like with a few commercial exceptions. General advertising, album covers, book covers, billboards, etc we’d negotiate separately; but feel free to use your shots on your social channels, websites and for general publicity.
